FAQ’s for parents
Please find some additional information below that we hope proves helpful in helping you choose Trinity Academy St Edward’s as the next step in your child’s journey through education. If you have any further questions or would like to discuss the school in more detail, please do contact us directly and we will get back to you swiftly, in addition to adding you to our mailing list to receive the latest updates.
Where exactly is the school?
The school will be built on a large site at Keresforth Close, just off the Broadway main road. The postcode is S70 6RS.
What will the temporary accommodation be like?
The temporary accommodation will be brand new and purpose built for our students and staff. This means it will house all the facilities we need to ensure the learning experience is second to none. ICT facilities, science and art classrooms and dining facilities will all be built into the facility. There will be no compromise on the fantastic curriculum we will offer our students. For Sports facilities we will be working in partnership with a local organisation that can provide the facilities we need to ensure sport and fitness can be delivered effectively. Keep checking the website for updates including some imagery of similar temporary buildings to give you a flavour of what it will look like.
When will the permanent building be open?
By the very latest the permanent building will be ready for the students as they begin year 9. This means that the founding year group will have at least 3 years in the new building with its excellent state of the art facilities. The team at the trust and the DfE will of course endeavour to bring forward the opening if at all possible and are working hard on developing the plans right now!
Will the site be safe for students when there is temporary accommodation and a permanent building being constructed?
The school will open in temporary accommodation on the upper part of the site. Health and safety are paramount and the construction of the new build will be on a completely separate section of the site lower down away from the road. Students will not be able to access, cross or get to the building site. What is exciting though, is that they will be able to see their future school being built right in front of them. We will ensure we link our specialist STEM curriculum to this for exciting learning opportunities.
Will the school, open for Year 7 only?
Yes, this is an exciting and unique opportunity for your child to start their secondary education in a small and nurturing environment amongst their peers. We will be admitting 180 students in our first year and then will grow steadily year by year. We will challenge all students to reach the highest in academic standards and to take on leadership and mentor roles for future students who will join the school after them. Our first year group will be the founding members of the school and will be a very special year group for us and the history of the school.
What extra-curricular activities and clubs can my child access?
Our extensive extra-curricular programme Involve will ensure that a diverse and exciting range of opportunities are available for your child, these will include STEM, Debate, Sports, Photography, Creative Writing and many more.
How will Open Evening work?
As we do not yet have a school building to show you, there are a number of other ways in which you can access information and find out more. We will be releasing a video shortly, which will be uploaded to this website, detailing some of the teaching and learning and leadership systems that will be transferred to Trinity Academy St Edward’s from our other highly successful Secondary Schools. We will also intend to be in Primary Schools in September to speak to students and parents/carers in addition to handing out our school prospectus. There will also be several further Webinar dates and the chance to take part in a Q and A with the Executive Principal, at the start of the new academic year. Please contact us to be put on the mailing list to receive dates and times of key events directly to your email account.
